THIRD PARTY |

Just heard Musk and Company are proposing ‘AMERICAN PARTY’. We do have GREEN and LIBERTARIAN for years having failed to get elected in any recognizing way. It also reminds me of late Ross Perrot and his attempted to secure a third party nomination.

Against this history, my debatable opinion is the Greens and Libertarian do not seem to have resonating agenda and may have simply become ‘election noise’. Ross had funds and a message, still he could not break through. Now comes Musk and Yang on the strength of technology based outreach, and populations growing frustration with people in charge in Washington. It is almost obvious a majority of the population feels left out of contributions in making this country better. I see opinions such as ‘Don’t know’ or ‘Will see’ or ‘Time will tell’ or ‘I am worried’. Some how a bit of air has left the American balloon.

The third party – I will share by views. A third party would be good not to replace either Democrats or Republicans. A small number of elected senators and congressmen become a guard rail when nation altering legislations are being proposed.

To illustrate my point and being associated with healthcare space, I am concerned about $1T cut in Medicaid. Medicaid is due for an overall including eliminating fraud, removing coverage for ineligibles, reducing cost of drugs and latest – Mark Cuban “Stop providing unemployed millionaires with Medicaid benefits and force employers to pay workers enough so that they do not have to be on Medicaid”. When the Medicaid cuts were passed, it appeared to be a gross reduction of healthcare services and budget short fall to the safety net and rural hospitals. Many of them will close causing healthcare service reduction and unemployment.

A third-party group in both house would have acted as guard rail. In closing I am not promoting Musk and Yang’s third party. Simply sharing the checks and balances needed rather than what appears to be a herd mentality in both house of congress to score wins albeit sometime at the risk of hurting the population.
